About Catherine

I promised myself I wouldn't yell today.

Catherine David

Welcome. However you found your way to this page, I'm glad you're here.

If it's been a hard week, if you're tired in the specific way only this job makes you tired, or if you're just looking for someone who talks about parenting the way it actually feels instead of how it's supposed to look, you're in the right place.

You don't need to have it together to belong here.

You just need to be trying, which you clearly already are, or you wouldn't have clicked through to a page like this one.

I'm Catherine, and this is where Responsive Parenting Hub actually started.

Not in a classroom.

Not in a textbook, either.

It started on the bathroom floor, on an entirely ordinary Tuesday, after another day of losing my temper with the people I love most in the world.

I still remember the exact pattern on that tile, which tells you something about how long I sat there.

My daughter was down the hall, finally asleep, and I was replaying every sharp word I had said to her that day.

Not the big, dramatic parenting failures you brace yourself for. The small ones.

The ones that quietly pile up until you're sitting on a bathroom floor at nine at night, wondering who you've become.

I built this space for parents standing in that exact spot.

Exhausted. Guilty after they've yelled. Already out of willpower, because willpower was never actually the thing missing.

What changed things for our family wasn't trying harder.

It was understanding that yelling is a nervous-system response, not a character flaw.

Once I actually saw it that way, I could do something real about it, instead of just promising myself, again, that tomorrow would somehow be different.

That is where the 3-Second Gap Method came from.

Not a theory I read somewhere. A tool I needed myself, on the exact night I just described, and on a hundred nights after that while I was still figuring it out.

Today, over 628,000 parents follow Responsive Parenting Hub for that same kind of honest, practical help.

No shame. No performance of perfect parenting.

Just real tools that work in real homes, built by someone who is still, some days, working on it herself.

What I Believe

Real homes, not highlight reels.

Every strategy on this site has been tested in an actual house.

With actual tired kids, on actual hard days, by an actual parent who still loses her patience sometimes.

Nothing here requires you to become a calmer, more patient version of yourself before it starts working.

It works with the parent you already are, on the days you're doing great and on the days you're barely holding it together.

That's the whole point of this site, really. Not a better you. Just a slightly steadier one, three seconds at a time.
